Air Vent Valve Placement

I think this is a basic question. I (with help) am about to hook up our new (home made) solar heating boxes (18 square glass enclosed aluminum boxes containing copper tubing). They will sit on the roof and the 1.5" PVC will run from/to the pool pump room.

I want to install 'air vent valve(s)' to let out air from the system as needed. Does it make sense to put one on only the hot water line, only the cold water line, or both ? Due to space constraints there really isn't much horizontal space where I can mount the valves. It would likely be at the point where the cold water reaches the roof OR where the hot water descends.

Hopefully I've explained this ok. Thanks !
