How should I connect these pipes?

This is a vent pipe in the attic. As you can see, I've temporarily moved the rubber coupling to show what's under. I'm looking for a better, more permanent solution because the coupling leaks a bit.

Get a sawzall with a fine blade. Cut the ends off and cut enough from one side to leave a gap.

get two mission couplings.. no hubs copper to pvc.. Use both no hubs and put a piece of pvc between..

One side of the no hub is thicker then the other as copper is smaller diameter.

It looks like that coupling was horribly over-tightened, which probably led to the leaking.

If it were me, on a vent, I'd probably just replace the coupling. But admittedly, Lawrosa's solution is the better.

It's a vent in the attic, what could leak? Shouldn't be any liquid in that area of the vent except for a few raindrops.

It's from rain coming in through the roof vent. We've had some heavy, sustaining rains so that would do it. And granted, the insulation wasn't soaked, but it was/is damp.

Agreed

IIWY- I'd get some emery cloth, clean up the corrosion, slide on a new plastic coupling, wrap the break a few times with HVAC metal tape, and then install a new plastic coupling.
