Reuse wax ring?

I installed a toilet on a build site (house renovation) a month ago. I now want to swap the toilet for another. Can I reuse the wax ring since it's only been in use for one month?

I agree, given a choice I'd get a new one.

Since the toilet has already been tightened to the floor, the wax can't be compressed anymore. If the wax ring comes up with the toilet, the chances of it resealing with the floor when reinstalled is minimal. Chances don't improve much if the ring stays on the floor. Use a new ring.

Is it necessary to clean around the floor contact point with a degreaser?

You don't necessarily need to use a degreaser, but you do want to remove any residue of the old wax ring and and other debris.

I clean off the wax that I can with a putty knife but don't do any more cleaning beyond that.
