What is causing 2 toilets in my home to semi self-flush? (I hear a rush of water about every hour or so)
I have replaced the flushing mechinisms in both but both are still flushing

Cool

By "flushing mechanisms", do you mean the water inlet valve assemblies?
Have you replaced the flappers and cleaned the flapper seats with steel wool?
Are the seats badly pitted or corroded?
You may need to replace them, if they are. Sounds like you have leaks at the flappers.
Go to "Repair/Fix-It" above and to bhglive.com/homeimp/ for illustrated how-to info on Toilets in the Plumbing sections.
Good Luck!
