For a while now our water has been much
rustier than normal. The filters would get
clogged to the point water wouldn't pass
through. This never happened before till this
spring. NOW, the pump won't run at all.
My guess is the pump had been going,
not filling the tank and keeping the pump
submerged, and finally quit. That may be
the reason for the rusty water.
My question is, what will it take to
replace the pump? Will the whole tank have
to be replaced? If so how much can I
expect to spend on relpacement?
I went down to the well and turned on the
spigot that comes out of the pump tank and the
pump did not kick in, circuit breakers
and fuses are fine.

well pump

I had the well pump checked out. It turns
out that a lightning strike had fried the
wiring running underground to the pumps
fuse box. I had them run new wiring and it
works now. They did say the pressure tanks
may be going.
we've had a lot of storms here the past week.
Along with the pump problem we've had four
large trees either hit by lightning or
blown down by high winds and just last night
had tornado warnings for two hours.

thanks
