Inside flange?

Is there any problem using an inside flange that fits into a 3" pipe?
from what I can find the toilet outlet is 2-1/8" so much smaller anyway. The flange would reduce the pipe to 2-3/4" or so and then 3" for the rest of the run

No issue. Most toilet trapways are around 2". Some toilets advertise a 2-3/8" trap. So the ID of your inside-mount flange will be fine.
