Reuse gas threaded steel pipe and installation?

Hi,

I have a ventless natural gas heater that needs to be replaced. It is located in the garage and is I believe connected with black steel threaded pipe with a Union connection near which allows me to add a new ventless natural gas heater easier. I have some question:

The threaded fittings have pipe dope on it. Can I reuse the black steel pipe threaded fittings if I unthread it? Or is the union connection the only fitting I can reuse? I assume I can reuse the union fitting viewed below:

Finally this is the pipe dope that I plan on using with black steel threaded pipe for the natural gas:

Black iron pipe lasts almost forever. Perfectly acceptable to reuse it.
I never throw any threaded pipes, nipples or fittings away.

Use a wire brush to clean all the old dope out of the threads and apply new.
That dope is fine for gas piping.

Thanks PJmax, read stuff online that seemed to indicate that it wasn't acceptable which didn't make much sense to me.
