Vacuum Breaker Plastic Assembly broken and stuck inside hose bib

I have an anti-siphon vacuum breaker that has broken on one of my ABP branded outdoor hose bibs. The plastic part of the assembly has broken off and there isn't enough left above the hose bib for me to grab it with anything to twist it out and remove it. The remaining plastic seems to be "crumbly." If I use something to simply break it apart, will any little pieces that fall down inside cause any problems? Any other suggestions on how to remove that piece so that I can replace the whole assembly? Thank you!

I assume it's internally threaded, get something like an old chisel that fits down inside the ribs and use that to unscrew!
