I just went to replace my basement floor drain cover (totally rusted) and notice there’s 2” of rock/cement? before my drain turns to plastic. Is something supposed to insert in this 2” section? I thought it would be plastic all the way through.
Hard to tell, but whatever it was connected to probably rusted away too. It likely fit inside and the floor was poured around it. You might need to cut out a 12x12 square of concrete and work some magic to fit a new one on there before patching the floor back up.
I have an tar paper line from the house to septic; it's probably broken somewhere and I have to dismantle a deck before I can access it. So for now, I figured I'd snake the drain from the tub which is closest. I was planning on going through the tub drain, but I see everywhere plumbers taking the overflow drain apart and going through that. What is the reason for doing this?
Couple weeks ago I posted about an issue with the drain at my mother's house and how the blast pipe before going underground had burst. Well I'm back with another issue that didn't seem to get resolved. The washing machine once it starts its drain cycle ends up filling up some of the bathtub and you can hear it in the kitchen as well but it doesn't come up there. It drains fine as far as I can tell but I'm not sure what to do now about this problem. Everything else seems to drain fine in the house. The bathtub that this is coming up in is the last drain before it goes in the ground. It's not clogged or anything from what I can tell but I don't know about the rest of the house. What can I do?
