I am in the process of replacing all of the faucets and drains in our home. I am now trying to remove the drain from our roman tub. I can't budge it. The drain piping is plastic and has been glued-no screw joints. I have removed the center stem but I do not know how to unscrew the drain from the tub.

Being just a handyman, I will give you my two cents worth.
All the drains I have ran across unscrew from the drain pipe. I have been able to accomplish this in most cases by useing a good pair of needle-nose pliers. Putting them in the top of the drain, the blades through the cross members of the drain and unscrewing the drain. For added leverage, I have placed a screwdriver through the handles of the pliers. You may have to connect a pipe wrench to the drain pipe and have someone hold it or brace it to prevent the whole assembly from turning. Some have been more stubborn than others but all have come apart.

Good luck............
