Hello, I have to connect 1/4" low pressure poly tubing to an air supply outlet using this barbed compression adapter fitting. Please see the photos.
My two questions are: Do I need any gasket to go between the barbed adapter and the nut or it is just metal to metal compression? Why are there two pieces, can I replace these two parts with a one-piece fitting?
Would appreciate any comment and suggestion! Thank you and Best Regards to All,
harum.
There are several different one piece fittings. Here are a couple different examples... quick connect and threaded. Might be special order, but check where the air tools are located.
Thank you XSleeper! There is no inner thread in the adapters in your links... I would still need to thread the barbed adapter onto the low pressure outlet. Still unclear if I need to use a washer between the two parts in the first two photos.
Was wondering how many turns do I turn the nut to provide an air-tight compression of the barbed adapter? I could only do one and a half turns with hand tightening and the barbed adapter is still loose. Is a washer or a ferrule missing in this connection? Thanks!
I don’t know but my guess is that if inside the fitting at B, is shaped the same as part A, then I bet it’s like a flare fitting. The nut just gets tightened up and A makes an air tight or liquid tight connection into B. Nothing else is used - except I guess Teflon tape wouldn’t hurt on the threads to help tighten. But I’m just guessing.
Doesn’t look like there are a lot of examples around using that type of connection. Wonder why. Maybe one of the plumbing guys would know. If it’s for air couldn’t you just try it - or would that hurt the equipment? Doesn’t seem like it would.
Zoesdad is correct it's barbed adapter flare fitting, not a compression fitting. Do a google search in images. Lots f examples. No gasket or washer is needed.

I have a faucet as shown in my garage. Every time I turn the water on, either hot or cold, water leaks out the hot water handle. Hope this is something that I can fix relatively simply. Suggestions? Thanks in advance.
Hello,
I am looking for opinions and thoughts on the cast iron pipe. This is my main water discharge pipe that leads to my septic. The picture shows a crack in the pipe. Wondering if serious. Have not seen any leakage yet. Located in crawl space under the house.
Bonus question: aware of any insurance or warranty companies that typically cover these potential issues?
Thank you in advance.
