Single bowl sink with garbage disposal and tailpiece fitting
Hello!
I looked everywhere and I am looking for a solution on a garbage disposal for a single sink with the a tailpiece fitting hookup. In IL we can connect the dishwasher outlet to the disposal. Can I connect the tailpiece below to the GD drain pipe, then into a P-trap and meet code?
Please see attached, sorry for the 1st grade drawing lol!

Just to clarify, you can or can not connect the dishwasher into the disposal based on your local codes? If you can, I would just do that.
There's no big issue with using a tailpiece and connecting the dishwasher into that, but in most installations, you don't have the available height to do that. Between the GD outputting lower, plus the trap, most sinks/drains don't have the extra 3-4" required for an additional tailpiece. But if you do have that elevation, I don't see any issue with it.
Sort of related, the discharge hose from the dishwasher should go up as high as it can, to the bottom side of the counter if possible, before going into the drain/disposal.
