[b]I own a home with septic, owned for almost 30 years. I have a vent in basement under 1st floor bathroom. This vent is right next to washer hook up however we have never use or intend to use this drain pipe. On occasion with heavy rain or septic getting full it sometimes shouts out waste water into basement. my question is can I cap this vent to prevent this since we do not use this drain vent because no basement bathroom or washer[/b]

Hello. I need to remove the garbage disposal for multiple reasons. As you can see from the image, the dishwasher drains into the garbage disposal. Presumably, then, when the plumber removes the disposal, the plumber is going to have to install one or more new pipes. Not only will the water from the faucet have to have a new path, the new pipe(s) will have to enable the dishwasher to drain like the garbage disposal does. I don't want the plumber to rip me off, so please tell me what exactly must be done. 1. How much does garbage disposal removal typically cost? 2. Exactly what new pipes/parts am I going to need and about how much will installation (parts and labor) cost? 3. Is there a particular type of pipe that is resistant to drain flies/drain works? If so, what? I took apart the PVC pipes to clean them and, even though they weren't clogged, there were a lot of drain flies and worms. Nasty! Are metal pipes, for instance, more resistant to drain flies and worms? Thank you!!!
