Rusted pipe broke from retired propane system

What do I need to do with this? It's not in use and it broke off at the ground level so now I have a rusted pipe protuding from the ground. The old tank is still in the ground

I would dig around it and cut it off well below ground level and bury it. You might want to cap it.
However, you must be sure to maintain the fact that's it there and must disclose that fact when and if you ever sell the house or transfer deed.

Was there a picture in your first post ?
Not sure how to help you without seeing what you have there.
A picture would be helpful...... How to insert pictures.

Good picture.

I would not do anything major. I would not cut it any shorter and not attempt to thread it.
I would clean the end up and put a rubber cap over it.

3/4" Fernco cap
