I recently moved into an older house. In the main bathroom the stopper mechanism in the sink is stuck solid. I can take the stopper out by hand, but the stopper handle behind the faucet won't move. It's supposed to go up and down. Because of this, even though I can remove the stopper from the sink, I can't push it all the way down so the sink bowl can fill.

Any suggestions on how to fix?

Thanks,
Bill

you will see a nut that holds the p/o rod into the back of the drain body, this is where the resistance may be, loosten the nut to try and free it up but not to much so it leaks. also inspect all the linkage.
