how to take apart this drain

friend sent me a pic and apparently there's a big screw in the middle but she doesn't have a large enough screwdriver to catch it and spin in around. can i assume that's what you need to take apart the drain it's clogged with long hair

If that's a sink drain stopper, the stopper is held by a pivoting rod with a ball and seat, located on the back side of the tailpiece under the sink.

I've never seen something like that in a shower drain but..... yes.... apparently she will need a big screwdriver to remove it. If you're asking about an alternate tool... don't think there is one.

It looks like some type of aftermarket adapter put in.
How could you put a screen over that with it sticking out of the drain ?

OK, a tub. It's probably the kind that pops up and down when you depress it. Thanks Pete for blowing it up... can see the screw now. yep, it just unscrews. Can't really help you unscrew it, you're going to have to do that.
