Hi, I have 2 problems with this shower. 1) the shower squeals loudly when the water volume is medium or high, 2) on the coolest setting the water that comes out is still warm. Can you suggest what I should do? Thank you
Does the cold water always stay warm no matter how long your run the water? Or, if you let it run for a minute does the cold water eventually get cold?
I live in the desert, during the summer the cold water is not as cold as you think it should be....
If you shut off the supply to the water heater, stopping all flow of hot water. Than turn on your cold water in the shower: Does it get cold? If so, you could have a bleed over somehow from the hot water side. If not, you just don't have "cold" water during the summer. Usually has to do with where and how your supply line to and through the house is run.
There is a new build housing tract in town where they placed the city supply line under the paved streets, but not deep enough under the paved streets. The sun heats the asphalt which radiates the heat to the supply line and causes the water to become "warm". Has been an issue for years and one that may cost the developer some extra "do over" money....
Good point about about the municipal supply lines not buried deep enough.
Here in Western New York we have a frost line of about 42" and even in hot summer months the cold water is still slighly warmer than in winter.
Hi, I used a thermometer to compare the "cold" water in the shower which is 92 degrees, and the "cold" water from the sink faucet in the same room which is 80 degrees. The shower water doesn't get colder if it runs for 10 minutes.
I don't think that is the case. I kind of threw that out there more of guess. But you need to take apart the hot and cold faucets first and solve noise problem.
As far as a mixing valve being used, it's possible but unlikely. Moen uses a Posi-Temp mechaism on there single handles bath and shower faucets. The only way to know is to look behind your wall.
Do you happen to have an access panel on the opposite wall from those faucets? Or can you make an access panel? Do you know the brand and model of the unit?
Thank you. I should have mentioned I think there must be a mixing valve because the handle on the right controls the temperature. The handle on the left controls the main shower head flow. The middle handle controls the flow of a handheld shower head.
There you go, that is your mixing and hot water problem. Maybe the mixing valve needs a new cratridge also. But there should be an adjustment of some sort.
A couple questions...
1) What are the two contraptions?
2) How would you stop the slow leaking from both?

I have an old Delta junker that I'd like to replace (3-handle), because it's near impossible to adjust the temperature where you want it, and it won't stay at that temperature for long. I've already replaced the diverter, but can't find them for the hot and cold valves. When this one was installed, sweating the joints was brutal - water kept bubbling up from the pipe and cooling the joints. Couldn't get the water to stop (and yes, the valve was shut completely). So, I'm wondering if swapping to Shark Bite connectors would be acceptable in this case. Also, since the handles are in the low position on the wall, would it work replacing it with a single-handle, or should I stick with a 2 handle model? Finally, who makes a decent tub faucet these days that won't require a 2nd mortgage, and isn't all plastic? Any and all suggestions appreciated. Thanks, guys!
