Look for a Compression Brass Cap Fitting for sealing old refrigerator water line

Hello all,

I need to seal the old refrigerator water line because I don't need it anymore.

Question> Is there a male cap I can use? I searched homedepot but didn't find anything that works for me.

Thank you

I don't mean remove the line completely. I mean unscrew it and cap it at the source.

Plumbing is hard to figure out without the parts in hand while you are at the store.

My guess is that you would just need a 1/4" compression coupling and a 1/4" cap. And a little pipe dope.

Is there some reason you can't disconnect the line at its source, and cap it there?

Isn't there a valve at the other end of the line?

Hello all,

I have replaced the shut-off seal at the pipe source which shows serious degradation after more than 20 years of usage.

Thank you for all your help.
