[color=#141414]I'm replacing the fixtures in our shower on the 2nd (top) floor. The old control sticks out from the wall but the new one is designed to sit more flush. This means the valve assembly needs to be mostly inside the wall.[/color] [color=#141414]After opening up the wall, I find the vent pipe (I think: 2-3 inch diameter black pipe) running directly behind the current valve assembly. The new valve will not fit between the wall and pipe.[/color] [color=#141414]Can I cut out a section of the pipe, reroute it below where the valve will go 45 degrees to the side, then 45 degrees back to attach above the valve?[/color]

I can't figure out how to do the minimal changes to replace this old rusted shutoff valve with a new PVC one... and still be able to get the new parts in place. (It's brass, and the valve handle and screw rusted off). The way it's set up, though, I can't figure out what to cut (or break apart, if I work on chipping off an elbow or something), nor a way to then get pieces back together successfully.
