Is this fitting correct?

Is the inside of this supposed to be shaped like this? And if so what kind of washer? TIA

What is that fitting used for ?
Since it has a beveled flange.... it appears to be a union and requires the correct matching half.
Could also be a compression fitting.

The fitting in your picture looks like 1.
Where's the rest of the fitting ?

Looks like a flared compression fitting. No gasket, no dope.

Ok, so a flared compression fitting. What do I need to match it other than a female of the correct size that it screws into? Can't get it to quit leaking.

Probably parts 2 and 3 in pj's photo. Buy a brass union and you will have all 3 pieces. And clean off all the pipe dope.
