heating cable for OUTDOOR water pipe
Hi
Have 5' of exposed water pipe between one house and another.
Does not freeze if house #2 keeps using water but if house #2 occupants leave and water stands, it freezes
Bought an Easy Heat cable and install directions make it seem inappropriate for outside exposed to elements. Called company and they said is not for exposed areas. So I asked what if I cover it with something. They say it could over heat. So I say why does packaging not say that. But never mind that.
What cable can I use for a pipe exposed to weather?
Thanks.
Loren

The cables used for heating roofs, gutters and downspouts are outdoor rated and probably UV protected. I'm not sure if they will allow covering with insulation though.
