Whole house ball valve color and specs

Whole house ball valve color and specs

My whole house water valve need to be changed. Is there a specification for that, on color of the handle or else. It's 3/4 in.
Do you install it in front or on the side.

There is no color code or requirement for a water shutoff. My personal choice is blue if it's available.

What do you mean?
The pipe inlet & outlet can be in any orientation, horizontal or vertical. Generally you install a valve so the handle is accessible and easy to operate.

Different brands have different colors. While some people likely have preferences for certain brands, in the end it doesn't much matter, they all work quite well.

Bathtub water surging

Its hard to explain how it sounds so I posted a link to a video. Basically, it sorta surges here and there. Its not a steady flow. No other water being used at the time of running it. Also in that bathroom, i was brushing my teeth at the sink and the water just stopped for 20 seconds then went back on. Not sure if the two are related. I had our well guy come out and just the pump, pressure gauge and to see if there is a blockage. He said all was fine and that it isn't the well causing it. So, what could it be?????? Water Heater Drain Pan Pipe to Outside.. ?

Our house is built on a slab with the main living space one level above- so the garage/basement (at ground level) was originally unfinished. We recently finished the ground level so there is now living space beyond the garage. The water heater is in the garage right next to the wall going toward the living space, and also right next to an exterior wall. In the years before we finished the ground level the water heater failed once and flooded a portion of the garage. Now that we have living space right next to the garage I would like to protect against a possible future water heater failure (I plan to proactively replace the water heater- but you never know). My plan is to add a drain pan under the water heater (see blue lines in pic), and connect the pan via some kind of flexible (green in pic) line (in case a replacement water heater changes position slightly) to a pipe (PVC?) that penetrates the exterior wall and then drops down on the outside as a drain. Any tips on what flexible piping I could use to connect to the pan? And any tips on the best way to stick a pipe out through the exterior wall? Or any comments in general on this plan?
