Faucet turns in opposite direction

One of our dual knobs on our kitchen faucet started leaking slowly. We decided to replace the knobs to something new, but very similar to the exhisting ones, but now that the new ones are in place, the cold water faucet knob turns in the opposite direction from it's usual way to turn the water on. The hot water faucet knob still turns the correct way (counter-clock-wise? I forget now since the kitchen knob has me trained to turn it it's new way!).
The leak is gone, we have water on demand, the new knobs look nice, but is something installed incorrectly or is there a small piece (washer, etc.?) missing?

Thanks!

Cool

There is such a thing as a hot and cold water faucets that turn in the opposite direction.
You must have two of the same kind. Maybe they'll let you exchange it.
Good Luck!

If your handle is acrylic the may turn in the same direction. Metal handles do not. If you have replaced a acrylic handle with a met hdle, you may need a new cartridge. the cartridges are either clockwise or counterclockwise. You might have two of same and need a clock wise. Metal handles should turn in oppiste direction.
