The water is rusty when I first turn it on In one of my tubs of my house. The other tub is fine, but I'm not sure what is causing the problem or how to go about fixing it. The tub that has the problem was added on before I bought the house. The sink in the same bathroom doesn't have the same problem. Is there anyway to clean an existing pipe and treat it so it doesn't keep leaking?

Thanks in advance.

Cool

Someone has apparently installed a steel pipe for the connection between the tub faucet body in the wall and the tub spout.
It will always spew out rusty water until you replace it with a copper or CPVC pipe with threaded fittings on both ends the exact same length as that piece. It is probably 1/2" or 3/4".
Unscrew the tub spout (it may have a set screw...look underneath it before trying to unscrew it). Then unscrew the pipe that it is screwed onto and replace it.
Use 2-3 flat wraps of teflon tape wrapped clockwise only on all male threads to prevent leaks.
Good Luck!
