Unhappy

I recently used a toilet auger to try and get a complete flush on one tank of water. Thinking that maybe there was an obstuction in the drain pipe,I tried using the auger and was only able to pull out an old nut. Now every time I flush the toilet the bowl fills up with clean water and goes down the drain only to refill with dirty water. Did I damage the trap when I used the defected auger?

Cool

It's possible.
A porcelain toilet is easy to break.
If the water from the tank is clean when it is flushed, and the bowl is filling back up with dirty water, the auger must have caused a crack or break in the built-in trap of the toilet.
Looks like you may need to replace it.
Good Luck!
