Question

Hi and thank you for your help.

I have an old shower (20-30 years old?) that leaks at the showerhead and in one of the handles. I am having great difficulty in removing the hot and cold valve/stem assemblies for replacement. Once the handles are removed and the valve/stem assemblies are exposed, I can not seem to remove them with a wrench. It feels like I could rip/twist out the copper tube the assembly is screwed into if I turn to hard.

I have turned off the water and opened the sink faucet to remove pressure but no luck. I am an obvious novice so any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

JMazz
