latex paint and septic tanks

is it ok for water with latex paint in it (like when you wash out your paint brush) to go into a septic tank?
thanks in advance for any advice.

Yes, but not oil-based paint (or anything else that will tend to kill the normal bacteria in the septic system that make it work).
Very small amounts of bleach (such as diluted in a washing machine or a toilet tank tablet), should not harm it either.
About the only maintenance that a septic system needs is to pump the tank out every five years.
If you have a root problem, you can flush a cup of copper sulphate down about every 3-4 months.
