bathtub faucet
I am having a problem with our bathroom faucet dripping. We intialy thought it was the washer's in the valve stems. It wasn't. It has been drpping so bad, now we have to shut the hot water off, after every bath or shower. We changed out the washers again. The dripping is now down to a minimal. But, there is no longer any water pressure in the hot or cold faucets. Yes it has been cold at night. Already checked the pressure on the out side lines. Pressure is good. Went to the store to buy a new faucet......Guy said we have to cut the pipes........and fit new onto old piping. HELP!!!!!!!!!! All i want is a new faucet(that works) and to have water pressure again. Is it time to call a plumber? Or can this be repaired by some very inexperianced plumbers?
Thank you,

Don't panic.
What type of pipes do you have? Copper?
Do you have cut-off valves under the sink? If not you can get compression valves.
Just get flexible tubing connectors. They will have connections that just screw onto the cut-off valves and onto the new faucet lines.
If the new faucet lines don't have threaded fittings on the end and they're just straight tubing, get brass compression fittings that just slide onto the tubing, tighten on, and connect up with the flexible tubing from the valves.
It isn't very difficult.
If you need any help, just come back on this same thread and ask.
Good luck!

I'm sorry i wasn't clearer. It is the bathtub faucet. I get water coming out of the shower. Not much pressure but still it's water. But when i turn on the hot or cold faucets for the tub........no water at all. I have great water pressure at the sink. The tub is my only problem. The cut off valves are in our basement. The house was built in 53. Everything seems to be falling apart all at once. My field is mostly electrical. Definatly not plumbing..........Still need more help...........
