Question no hot water in the AM

O.K. I know this is probably the same question but here it goes. I didn't know what you ment about "elements". I actually installed the gas water heater myself, took exact directions from the manuf. See we have this tenant that just moved in and this is there complaint. They have there own water heater with only 2 people living in the house. The tenants before never brought this issue, now they moved into the house in Nov. and this is the issue i'm getting. It could just be the shower Knob, because I saw no compaints from the tenant before they moved in.

Elements are in electric water heaters, they have nothing to do with gas water heaters, again, if it's a single control shower valve, what brand is this valve? I have encoutered a cartiage gone bad and cause problem getting hot water to the valve, by replacing the cartiage in the valve, it solved the problem.
