Bathroom sink Q

I am wanting a new sink in my bathroom. A plumber looked at the pipes (the wall is open on the other side) and told me the water sources needed to be on both sides of the waste pipe. Right now the hot and cold are on one side rather than either side of the waste.

Is this true? Do they need to be on both sides? I dont want to pay to have them moved if it is not necessary.

Thank you

Site unseen of course I would have to say its not going to have to be moved. The only reason I would say they need moved is if your puttng a pedistal sink in and you just want pipes a little more organized and neat.

I am actually putting in a pedestal sink, so then it makes sense?

Yes, I would say that the plumber was just wanting to do the job right and have it look good and plus being a pedestal would make his job easier too.
