Angry Banging Radiator Pipes

What could I do to stop the LOUD banging on the radiator pipes when the heater is kicking in? I have the old style rediators with an American Standard furnace. It is a one pipe system, the return looks like it has the right pitch towards the boiler, what are the other options i have to stop this?

Sounds like you have a steam trap not working. Walk around anf feel the radiators and see if one of them is hotter than the rest or getting hotter sooner this will probably be the culpret.

Wink

I know this ? will sound dumb, sorry, but I am a novice at this
When you say traps, would this be the "L" shape, silver in color, chute look alike thing on the side of the radiator?

It would be on the pipe feeding the radiator above or below the flow. Usually with a union but not always.
