History: House is 20+ years old, I've been in it for 5, toilet is probably as old as the house but I don't know for sure. Toilet was very wobbly when I moved in and other toilets inhouse were leaking into ceiling so I replaced the wax seal ring in this problem toilet and all others. This was a couple years ago, and my first time doing seals but toilet has worked fine since. Nonetheless I'm throwing it out there. What I know: Lately, when we go to flush the toilet, the outlet hole near the bottom of the toilet, the one I believe which is supposed to flush water into the trap to start the flushing siphoning action going, bubbles a lot when the toilet is flushed. The toilet then never begins to swirl properly, fills up, and overflows. I'm guessing that air is getting in where it shouldn't be and that since the flush bubbles out air instead of flushing out water that the siphoning action never gets going properly and so the toilet doesn't flush out through the trap but just fills up. I have no idea what could be causing this and would really appreciate some do-it-yourself advice on this. Thanks Steve

I need to know how I should hook up my washer for drainage in a first floor laundry room I am building. I will be using 1 1/2" pvc to the vent stack. Right now the washer drain is in the basement with the drain hose just sitting in the soil stack (talk about messy). Where should I place the trap, above the floor in the laundry room, or below the floor in the basement? Another question I have is this: Will it be OK to have the drain pipe from the washer just resting inside a drain pipe going to the stack or does it need to be connected somehow so that it is sealed?
