Unhappy Sump Pump Blues

I am getting water in one corner of my basement that moves towards the sump hole in another corner, but then flows off to another portion of the floor. It looks like the opening to the sump hole is higher than the area where the water finally settles.

How can I get the water to run into the hole instead of settling elsewhere?

You have a high spot in the slab that is divertiung the water away from the sump. You might try getting a masonary blade for your Skil saw and cutting a saw kerf into the concrete, through this high spot, to get the water to flow to the sump. Shouldn't take much. Start with a kerf 1/8" deep and see what the water does. If it gets closer, but still not there, go another 1/8" deep, in the same kerf.
