WHEN I TURN ON MY TUB FAUCET THE WATER COMES OUT RUSTY FOR A FEW SECONDS. WHAT COULD BE A POSSIBLE CAUSE?

I'll bet that you have a galvanized nipple from the faucet body that the tub spout is screwed onto. Rust forms on the inside of the steel nipple between uses.
Unscrew the tub spout counter-clockwise, and check it out.
If it's galvanized, unscrew it counter-clockwise and get rid of it.
Go back with an exact same-length (including the fittings) piece of copper 1/2" pipe with male threaded fittings soldered on both ends. Wrap 2-3 flat turns of teflon tape (clockwise only with the threads toward you) on both male threaded ends.
OR, you could go back with CPVC plastic the same way. (I would make up the copper nipple.)
Your call. One's soldered. One's glued.
