Air in water lines

Recently (about 30 days ago) I had to turn off my well pump to repair the line running from the pump to the water tank. Since the repair I have air causing the taps to spit water when first opening them. The pump is a 1/2 hp and the tank is 20 gallons. The pump is set to run when down to 20 psi and cuts off at 40 psi. It has been suggested to me, since there are no water leaks, that the pressure in the tank is not set correctly. Mine is set at 35 psi. Can you offer me any advice on how to correct the problem, just running the water doesn't seem to have any affect on the problem. TIA Bob

Cool

Your pressure tank should be two psi below your cut-on pressure (i.e. 18 psi).
The 35 is way too high. Bleed off the excess pressure at the air valve on the top of the tank.
For excellent info on wells and pumps, visit Ron (Pumpman) Peek's site at www.peekspump.com
Good Luck!

Cool

If it doesn't, you either have a leak on the suction (well) side of the pump at a connection or a leak in the air bladder of the tank (have to replace tank).
