offset in stack vent

I'm adding a second floor addition with bathrooms. The 2nd floor plumbing wall will be offset 2 feet from the first floor's. Is it permissable to offset the soil stack's stack vent? I've hear both yes and no I live in Illinios.

Thanks in advance

Sounds like it's not the vent you're offsetting but the main drain itself...it can be offset around here quite nicely. Try to use 45-degree fittings...makes things flow better.
