re:toilet problem from my last post

The septic has never been pumped out, but the house is only 2 years old. we are a family of 2 and were told it should not need to be drained for 3 to 5 years. Is there a way for me to check the main line? how much should it cost to pump out the septic? Also, I was told to put a box of Rid-Ex in the toilets once a month for septic upkeep. Is this a good practice? Thanks again.

Howdy

A big myth about septic systems needing to be pumped out!
Proper installation would have a clean-out at the tank.
A system is designed to be self sustaining, the Rid-Ex you spoke of is to enhance bacteria growth in the tank which in turn will break down the solids (waste). If the process goes as planned your kids or grandkids may need to worry about having the tank pumped, not you. Rid-Ex ?, an activated yeast cake (el-cheapo) broken into quarters and flushed down the old thrown about every sixty days has been proven to accelerate bacterial growth and lessen service calls on septic systems.
Hope this gives you a starting point.
