Leaky tub facet

Ok... I'm new to this so this is an easy question. I have a tub in my upstairs bathroom that has a leaky facet. It's got seperate hot/cold water knobs. Now, they were BOTH leaking (turned off water at valve to check) so I replaced the washer cartridge (not sure about that name) on both of them. Problem is.... they still leak?!?

suggestions?

Cool

Are you sure that you didn't replace the valve stems on a compression type faucet?
They have retaining caps that hold the valve stems in, and the valve stems have black rubber washers on the ends to seal with.
These rubber washers seal against seats, and if those are corroded or pitted, they need to be replaced, also.
Turn off the water, and remove the valve stems.
Use a flashlight and your fingertip to inspect the valve seats.
If the seats have square or hex holes, and are pitted and corroded, then replace them.
You may need a valve seat wrench to remove and replace them.
You also can do a search in here about leaking faucets. There is a wealth of information.
Good Luck!
Mike
