Pump packing in

I have a submersible pump which shoots up a fountain about two feet in the air. After working for a few minutes the pump stops. If I switch it off and wait some time I can use it again for a few minutes. The pump is completely sealed made by Ubbink in Holland, so I can't take it apart. It occured to me that maybe I could use an immersible sump pump in its place. Does anyone have any experience in using sump pumps to operate a garden fountain?

I don't think there is much cost savings by using a sump pump versus a fountain pump. Also make sure that you use a continuous duty pump for your fountain. A sump pump may not be designed to run all the time.
