Angry water hyacinths and lettuce

i live outside toronto ontario canada and our summer has been unbearably hot - i.e. my pond water is running about 80 degrees

hyacinths and lettuce are really growing poorly with more than usual leaves yellowing. the former has not bloomed once and they are very small.

has anyone else being experiencing similar problems?

have you considered increasing the amount of shade the area gets? I don't know how much it currently gets, but the more shade in the vicinity the cooler it will be. How about some close bushes or trees? Or can the area be modified to increase the flow of air? I still try to put my weather order in to mother nature, but she doesn't seem to be listening .

More drastically and time consuming, i have a friend that actually puts ice in during the day to try and cool hers down. Honestly I don't have that type of spare time on my hands. If what you are growing doesn't work in your climate, try something that will....good luck
