Foamy water in fountain

I installed a small water fountain in my backyard over the weekend. The pool where the fountain falls into has foamy water? Is this normal? Kind of takes away from the appeal of the fountain.

Most ponds with a waterfall or fountain have some foam or froth from normal water agitation. Should foam continue to buildup and not disappear, you might want to test your water to see if there is a chemical imbalance in the water. Sometimes if the filter is too small for the size of the pond there's a problem with foam. Of course, you can always add a little defoamer.

Sorry, I didn't mean pool. It's really only a basin about 10 inches deep and 6 inches wide, if this makes a difference.

I'll give it a few days and try the defoamer if it doesn't stop.

I put granulated chlorine in my pool and the day after it had a white foam lining the surface of the pool does anyone know if that is cause for concern?
