Column(s) water feature

I watched an HGTV episode where three granite columns were utilized to form a water feature. The columns were 5', 6', and 7' tall with a bored hole down their centers for the water to reach the top of each. The holes were obviously made with a drilling machine. I don't need to bore 5' columns but would like to try the same idea on something shorter. If you have some ideas on how this was bored, what tools are involved I would like to know them.

drilling rocks ...

So you can pick up a masonary drill bit for drilling through rock or stone etc. With the really thick rocks they use very long drill bits and probably a machine to do it.

How deep are you thinking on drilling ? You can get 18" drill bits at a home depot or lowes type place ...

I'll have to check on the bit lengths. Maybe the large stones could be stacked, align the holes and then feed a small irrigation tube through the stack.

Call a granite or stone supply company and find our where you can have them cored. This is assuming you can get them there.

It will be cheaper in the end than buying bits and renting or wearing out equipment.
