Bird bath fountain

What is a good bird bath fountain, I want to keep it simple and the cost down. Are the solar ones OK to use or will they break down quickly. I want a bird bath with some moving water in the center and I have an outlet nearby. Any suggestions? Thanks

Cast concrete fountains hold up well and are reasonably priced but you have to like the gray color. Their heavy weight holds them in place during heavy winds but the weight means you have to find them locally since they are expensive to ship.

I have not seen many plastic fountains or bird baths that last for more than a couple years and most I see around town are lying in pieces on the ground. Most are made of several pieces for easy shipping but the sections can come apart when bumped or during heavy winds. I think some adhesive caulk when assembling one would go a long way to making them last longer.

As for wanting cheap and long life I think you get what you pay for.
