How do I get rid of the floating algae particles which cloud my pond?

I've recently poured some chemicals which allege that will clarify the water soon. So far I've only seen some floating algae which displays a healthy bright green color. It seems that the $ 600 plus that I invested in those quemicals have been bled from my wallet for nothing. I cannot afford to change all of the water of my pond because of the drought restrictions we have been experiencing lately in my city. What should I do in order to fight my problem whithout violating any law or putting my fish at unnecessary risk?

What type of pond and fish do you have? What anti-algae chemical did you use?

chemicals/pond size

what is the size of your pond. (how much water.) Other factors, how much sun per day is directed on the water, number of fish, any pond plants, are you using any kind of filtration, what is the strength of your water pump, and is there any 'run off' into your pond from any other sources.
