Swimming Pool DE Filter Leak

My DE Filter sprung a leak and we woke up in the middle of the night to find Old Faithful watering our backyard. Everything inside seems to be intact and filter panels have recently been replaced. Can we just replace the lid or outer shell of the filter or do we have to invest in a new one...

Please tell us 'where' it's leaking. and if it is the filter itself, is it the top seal, cracked sidewall, line inlet/outlets, etc. ???

DE Filter Leak

It is definitely the top seal as we've already patched it once last year so it lasted quite a while. Anyway, the crack seems to be right on the top seam. If there's any way to deal with this as an "interim" fix until we can buckle down and buy a new system for next year, that'd be our best option... perhaps just replace the top seal, repatch the crack...???

Are you saying it's a tear/crack in the top seal or a crack in the plastic housing or both ? How old is the filter ?
Either way, these are replacement parts from the pool supply store or internet. Some outer shells and tops carry a 10 year warranty. Top seals are easily replaced for little $. Always release the pressure on the filter before attemping to remove top !
