Swimming pool

Demolishing a swimming pool is a big DIY project. An above ground pool will require dismantling the structure, removing the liner, and filling in the hole. A concrete pool and will require demolishing the concrete pool and deck and filling in the hole. In addition to removing the pool, you will need to remove utilities. You will have to make arrangements with the landfill to dump the debris.

You should check with local building authorities to see if you need a demolition permit. Some areas have strict rules about backfill of the pool and require that this be done under the supervision of a qualified soil engineer with a compaction report submitted and approved. Sometimes the soil engineer must be consulted before the demolition permit is issued. Codes tend to vary from area to area, so it is always best to check before doing anything.
