eliminating/preventing white haze on pool tiles
We have a 3 year old gunite pool with natural grey slate tiles at the water line. Over time, the tiles have developed a white haze (I assume from scale) at the waterline and above. In some areas, it actually runs down the tile from the grout of the coping above.
I tried everything to clean it off, and finally settled on muriatic acid with a scoth brand green scrubbie pad, which cleaned off 90% of it.
However, where the haze was the worst, the areas still appear a lighter grey than the surrounding tile. IS there any other way to get this off, or is it permanent?
I have added scale preventaive into the pool, but is there any specific type of sealer i can apply to the tiles that may darken them and even the colors of them. This sealer would have to be ok for being underwater.
Our pH tends to run on the high side because of the plaster walls despite my adding acid on a regular basis to the water.
Thanks.
Dave
