pool help with ph down
Hello,
I had to use ph down or sodium bisulphate, to put ph lower in my above ground pool. One thing I did wrong I think it was, is to put it in the skimmer, and not into pool directly.
Just wondering if this will harm skimmer or anything else along the circulation?
I had to put in about 1 cup and a quarter.
Hope someone can help out.
THks
Also my neighbour tells me to use Javex in pool as a chlorine to start up pool, I said "No way". Am I right on this, what can that stuff do to pool?
THks again.

hi there, no you more than likely did not hurt anything, however " DON'T "
add chems. to the skimmer in the future.
adviseable to dissolve powdered, dry, chems in water before adding to pool,
Ive never heard of Javex, so i can't advise.

if your refering to sodium hypochlorite [ liquid bleach ] its the same as liquid pool chlorine but a weaker solution , 5 % v/s 12 - 15 % for pool chlorine
i personally don't like liquid chlorine as a regulsr maintence for pools, as tds builds up rather quickly, and the addition of liq. chlorine has a high ph , thus needing the addition of more acid,
you have to remember that no matter what chemical you add to your pool there is a by-product that may or may not be benificial or detrimental to your pool chemistry.
i suggest to anyone who owns a pool / spa to buy and read [ easy reading & easy to understand ] Everything you always wanted to know about POOL CARE $9.95 949/366-9981
