While in the process of getting quotes for resurfacing our pool, it was discovered that several areas of the tile (inside the pool around the perimeter at the water line)were loose and in need of replacement. Since the tile is old and there are several loose areas, we are considering replacement of all the tile.
The pool tech quoted 185 lineal feet (a lineal foot equaling 12"x6")at $12 - $13 per lineal foot. This would include removal of the old tile and installing new tile. This price seems incredibly high since it translates to $24 - $26 per square foot, or over $200 per square yard. Our pool is not a complex design and is comprised of straight sides. Is it just me or does it seem as though their trying to gouge me?
Also, I understand that the tile used inside the pool at the waterline is glazed porcelain tile. Is pool tile a unique type of porcelain tile or is any type of glazed porcelain tile acceptable for this appilcation.
Thanks
