Need help with breaker that trips

Hi there,

On the weekend i changed the water in my hot tub (beachcomber external pump model)

everything was fine, i refilled and had the pump running. The temp got back up to normal so i shut it off for a few hours.

when i tried to turn it on again later that day the breaker tripped.

Everytime I reset breaker the electronic timer display comes on but when i try to start the pump (I can see the relay contacts touch) the breaker trips again.

Does anyone have any ideas?

This happened to me this year for no apparent reason. I checked the breaker first and worked my way to the motor checking all the connections and checking for shorts. It came down to the motor which is a pain to get to on my hot tub. A snake had crawled halfway into the motor and got stuck when the motor tried to run. I appears that because he was stuck, too much current was drawn when the motor tried to run and tripped the breaker. Removed the snake and all is well. You may have something preventing the motor from turning and causing the breaker to trip.
