Stress crack in pool filter tank

I have an American Products Eclipse Sand Filter for my pool. The tank is a big huge black plastic ball kind of thing. Near the top of the tank, a stress fracture has appeared and when the filter is running, water sprays out of it. The crack is about less than half an itch long on the outside, and almost four inches on the inside. I've tried something called Plastic Welder which put a solid layer of plastic goop over it (on both inside and outside cracks), but the water went around it and sprayed out the sides. Next try was 2-Ton Epoxy, but on the first layer, the water got through it. Any other ideas?

first off , the tank should have a 10 yr. warranty, check that out, american products is owned by pentair .

I shy away from " repairing " crackes in filters because of the liability factor, if you have never been around one when it explodes,.....

you don't want to. !
